Want to know what I did last Thursday? For those of you who guessed tattoo, you are sort of right…. I now have PERFECT eyebrows!
I have wanted to do this for over a year when I first heard it was possible. I even went to a tattoo artist and had a dye test which I blogged about last November: http://notyouraveragegrandma.com/2014/11/11/my-eyebrow-adventure/
But for some reason, I was hesitant and not comfortable with moving forward even though I hate my eyebrows. I didn’t want to do something that made them worse.
So I waited and the universe answered when I went in to the dentist a couple of weeks ago to get a filling replaced. While paying my bill, I noticed the woman who was processing my credit card had perfect eyebrows. And if you know me well, you know no question goes unasked!!! So I point blank asked her if they were tattooed. She said yes. And the rest is history. Then we bonded over our sad eyebrow stories!
Personal recommendations are a big deal to me so after seeing this woman’s amazing eyebrows and hearing her personal testimony about her experience, I came right home and made an appointment for a consultation the following week.
Fast forward to my consultation and my first meeting with Mary Hunter. She is not your typical tattoo artist. She got into the profession because she had breast cancer and wanted to learn how to tattoo nipples. Her passion is helping people feel better about themselves, which I can completely identify with!
My consultation involved taking Before pictures (see below) and then figuring out the right color I was comfortable with. Then she painted my eyebrows on, and with a few minor tweaks along the way, Voilà! By the end of my consultation, I was sold. I completely trusted Mary and wanted to move forward.
As I was getting ready to schedule my tattooing appointment, she mentioned she had left time in her schedule to do it right then if I wanted to… Yikes!!! It was decision time!
It didn’t take me long to say “Yes!” I was ready! I believed the stars had finally aligned and it felt right so I took the plunge. I was still quite nervous, but I entrusted Mary and to put it mildly, I’m ecstatic with the results.
Every morning since the procedure, when I’ve looked in the mirror, I have grinned from ear to ear! No more messing with eyebrow pencil. No more crooked eyebrows. No more straight & skinny (ugly!) eyebrows. No more time wasted! (I figured out I will save 60 hours a year by knocking out those 10 minutes a day!!!!)
I am NOT a makeup artist so every morning I struggled to get my eyebrows even and looking half decent. I’m not sure if they thinned with age or it was over-plucking when I was younger, or a combination of the two, but I am so thankful I found Mary Hunter, master magician when it comes to eyebrows. (She also does other types of permanent makeup like eyeliner, lips, and nipples for women who’ve had reconstruction due to breast cancer.)
If you’ve ever considered permanent makeup, I highly suggest giving Mary Hunter a call. Here’s her website: http://eyebrowrenovation.com/ The cost was $395 and that includes free tweaks for an entire year!!!
