Do you pick a word to represent the coming year?
I think it’s a fantastic practice to help the brain connect to a consistent way of being that is a reflection of my desires over the next 12 months.
This is the 3rd year I’ve done it and I’ll share it but first I’ll share my last 2...
At the beginning of 2019, right after I decided to leave my network marketing business and branch out on my own, investing in a high value (and expensive ) coaching program, my word was BRAVE.
And I was...
In January of 2020, as I was midway through my NeuroCoaching certification program and applying the mindset techniques I was learning, I picked the word ELEVATE, knowing I had to do just that to be a difference-maker in the world.
And I did...
This year I chose the word SILENCE because in order to get to the next level I desire, I must go inward.
Less busyness, which is my tendency as a person with workaholic, high achieving tendencies, and more silence.
Silence to me means more...
Let’s be honest… If Mondays make up 1/7th of our entire life, we should start being more serious about how we spend them.
I used to HATE Mondays. They stole my joy because they were the beginning of a new week of doing work that did not light me up.
In fact Mondays sucked the life right out of me.
I changed all that a year ago when I went ALL IN on what I discovered to be my purpose and now I LOVE Mondays, especially bc my commute is to walk across my family room and into my office where I do the work that lights me up - helping women over 50 find THEIR purpose... I even recreated it in this video!
Now my mission to help people love their Mondays - and every other day of the week!!!
I spent far too long devoid of passionate work, growing more miserable with every Monday. Looking back, it makes me so sad that I spent so many Mondays in that stuck place and that memory drives me hard.
So if you're anything like the old me, here’s to starting this work week with a...
Are you more of an introvert or extrovert? Personally, I've always tested as 100% extroverted.
I've always LOVED people & been fascinated by them, and I now know why I am so fulfilled as a coach. I believe it's my destiny, & even though I took the long way around to get here, I've arrived and it's the most incredible, fulfilling job I've ever had.
What I've learned in the past year is that we all were born with an innate personality, and when you are able to align the work you do with your unique gifts associated with that personality, you become truly joyful at your core.
It's because you are living authentically with who you were born to be, doing what you were meant to do.
The problem is that so many of us get sidetracked because we are trying to please others or adapt into some societal role to be accepted. It's not our fault! We do it because we are unaware it’s happening.
For me, it was all about making money, providing for my family so we had a nice house, fancy...
It’s amazing how often I used to say this word... Little did I know how much it affected my life!
Now I’m aware of this word and I’m able to catch it when I say it and replace it with a better word. It’s pretty unbelievable how magical this simple switch in my vocabulary has shifted things for me.
Listen in to hear the words!
Just imagine how better the world would be if us humans collectively switched up these words and came from a state of abundance instead of lack... Try it and if you found this tip useful, pass it along.
New desk alert!!! Well, new to me!
I was lucky enough to be the recipient of this amazing new work space when a client of my realtor husband moved and didn’t want to take it with her!
I am so grateful for my NEW desk that has nice big drawers, lots of shelves, AND a very bright, built-in light!
This desk was sitting in her basement, unused, and now it is contributing to making the world a better place through the work its new owner is doing…
I wonder if my desk is happy to be a vital part of my work? I like to believe that, just like everything in life, it was meant to be here with me at this time.
“One woman's trash is another woman's treasure!”
Now I need to find some more “trash” to fill all of those shelves!
I used to never have a plan for my life...
And what’s so crazy is that my day job was planning! I was a professional project manager and really, really good at that so I planned many huge technology projects, some that involved 3rd parties in other countries!
So why didn’t I think MY life was as important as a work project?!?! Why did I think other people’s priorities were more important than having a life I wanted?
Because I had no clue there was an alternative. And any alternative would take time I don’t have...
I wasted so much time thinking thoughts that kept me stuck.
Then one day I realized I’m more scared to waste more time not knowing what I’m here for than figuring it out!
It’s time to make time and make my #1 priority figuring it out.
And the result of that is a system I created that works for me!!! I call it The S.P.A.R.K. System and I use it every day.
This system is how I found my purpose. And now, every day is now planned around that...
Recording a 25 minute video 4 times is EXHAUSTING!!! I never knew I could get tired from talking too much!
Maybe if I had some to talk to instead of my own face!!!
Seriously I think my vocal chords are worn out. My throat is so sore!
Hoping I don’t have to do it again!!!
Some may assume I created my own business because corporate life wasn’t lighting me up.
Although that is one big reason, I really left because the life I have now allows me to take time to do more of the other things I love, like sit outside on my porch and meditate while enjoying the sounds of my fountain.
There are a million reasons why I love my "job," but what really lights me up is helping other people find their version of "porch time." :)
What lights you up?
Don’t ever think you’re too old to step into a new career doing the work you are meant to do!!!
I remember my old cubicle life... desiring something different but not knowing where to begin. I didn’t want to go back to college and start from scratch, but I knew I wasn’t where I was supposed to be.
So I just started putting one foot in front of the other, taking action on what felt right.
And last August THIS was something that felt right. I knew it as soon as I heard about it. And I was able to get in on the ground floor of this new certification program.
So I jumped in with both feet!!! And what a ride it’s been!
I just graduated, after spending a semester learning the science and then a semester of practicum work, and I am now getting to do the work I know I’ve been put here to do.
It may have taken me 61 years to get here but better late than never, right?!?
I am officially a trained and certified Master NeuroCoach!!!! Hot damn!
Thank you to all...
Have you ever had a great idea that you never implemented?
Well, I’ve had quite a few, but this one was one I finally pushed to the TOP of my priority list and made happen and I’m so FRIGGIN’ excited about it!
When it came in the mail two days ago, I actually jumped up & down and screeched! LOL!
I sat on this project for awhile, since last November! But it’s DONE and now it’s here - right before a new quarter! How perfect was that?!?! #thankyouuniverse
If you’re wondering what IT is, it’s my unique system that I created and use every single day.
I used it to first imagine and then create my passion-filled and purpose-driven online business and soon I’ll be giving one to each of my new students when they join The Second Half S.P.A.R.K. School when I open the doors to enrollment in a couple of weeks.
There are a lot of passions about to be uncovered & realized in the next 90 days and I can’t wait to lead my new...
