So happy to be out of the exercise rut!

Last year in early December, I found a system that helped me lose 10 pounds btw December and January. And right after Thanksgiving, I’ll be teaching my students in The Second Half S.P.A.R.K. School what I did.

They are hard at work delving into who they truly are and what they want out of the time they have left and it’s so amazing to see how much they’ve grown in just a few short weeks.

Now that they’re rocking’ it on the inside, I’m gonna show them my tips and tricks for getting healthy on the outside.

And lord knows, I’ll be joining them because I myself could use a reset.

In my mind waiting until January to focus on good health is the mindset of most and I strive to be different. What kind of person STARTS focusing on weight loss right before the holidays?!?!
Because I am not your average kind of person!

I like to change the status quo ways of thinking!!!

I Couldn't Just Sit and Watch!

I thought it was kind of sad that no parents were out there jumping with their kids. I got my grandkids tickets then decided to join them after watching for 15 minutes!

How could I not?!?! SO.MUCH.FUN!!! ‍

I shared the photo below in my private fitness accountability group this morning. (I reserve the BEST for them! )

But then I got to thinking about how we all like to show our "highlight reel" to the world. We are so afraid of judgement and not living up to some stupid standard we've invented in our crazy minds. So we hide the real stuff.

It's basically because we want people to like us!!! But of course they won't like us if we wear glasses or have a pimple (although I'm too old to get those anymore!) or have too many wrinkles or have old age spots on our arms (These have replaced the pimples!) or look fat in our outfit or our hair is messed up from sweat or just not washing it for a few days....

Why are we so afraid to JUST BE and share THAT?!!!

Our egos are so powerful. They make us think and do crazy things. I understand it but that doesn't mean I can easily quiet it.

Once My Alarm Went Off, I was Out of Bed and On My Feet

This morning I set my alarm for 5:30a after going to bed around 12:30a. I had to get up that early in order to get my workout in and get my meals packed for the day.

I knew I would not want to get up so I decided I was going to apply the 5 Second Rule. Have you heard of the 5 Second Rule? (And it's not about picking up food after you've dropped it on the floor!!!)

It's a great technique I learned from Mel Robbins. If you haven't seen her TED Talk "How to stop screwing yourself," google it and watch it! It's awesome!!!

Once my alarm went off, I was out of bed and on my feet before 5 seconds was up. If I waited longer, my brain would've talked me into sleeping "just a few" more minutes.... I know because it happened twice last week. :o

I got up, went into the kitchen, made & drank my pre-workout drink, got my shoes on and THEN GOT IT DONE. (Hint: Sleep in your workout clothes to make it easier!!!)

It's Amazing How Busy Life is With Little Ones Around You

I have a new appreciation for all you moms & grandmas who manage to get in your at-home workouts with kids at home!!!

These 2 critters just left to head back home this morning...  The house is strangely quiet, and I will miss them like crazy but it's time to get back into my regular routine.

It's amazing how busy life is when little ones are around and how little you seem to get done! But I wouldn't trade my time with them for the world!!! <3 <3 <3

Truth is that I went totally off the rails with my eating and exercise over the past couple of weeks so I am actually looking forward to digging in and being super ON POINT over the next 3 weeks with the ladies in my online fitness accountability group.

I've eaten out way too much, included too much alcohol in my meal plan (vacations & wedding oh my!), and either skipped my workouts or chose the easiest ones to do.

Now it's time to get serious, commit to ONE 21 DAY PROGRAM, stick to the prescribed...

Grandma Strong

I have an experience I want to share with you. Last night I had a strong feeling come over me. One that has been a long time coming but I think it's here to stay. I have a secret to share and maybe for some of you, it will resonate. For my whole life I haven't felt good about my body. I never felt like It was good enough. I honestly didn't like it when people touched my body because I felt fat. I felt mushy. And I didn't want them feeling my fat.

I'm sure it stems from the fact that I was an overweight teenager, and when I was 13 years old I lost 30 pounds. I think I've always seen myself as fat, even though I'm not.

But until I found Beachbody and started doing their at-home workout programs, I was never really in good shape. I was I guess what you call "skinny fat." I looked pretty good with clothes on, but I was still mushy and I didn't feel good about myself because I wasn't doing the right things to get myself in the proper shape.

Senior Olympics Here I Come

I've been so inspired by the Olympic athletes that I thought I'd try a few gymnastics moves... Of course I can do a handstand, a cartwheel, & a somersault!!! I'm STRONG!!! I've been doing these at-home workouts for 2 1/2 years! I am Not Your Average Grandma!!!

10 Days Ago My First Pull Up, Now My First Blog Entry!

I’ve wanted to start a blog for a long time but never really had a good enough reason… Something’s changed, though… Over the last 4 months, I’ve had a huge transformation and it’s not only changed my life, but it’s made me want to change other people’s lives. And in this day & age, the best way to do that is through a blog. My biggest fear is that people will find me boring and my subject matter blah. But as they say, you need to face your fears, and I am willing to take that risk if it means I can make a difference. I do have some comedy writing experience - I used to do an annual Christmas letter and it was quite the talk amongst my friends & family around the holiday season. (Maybe I’ll share an old letter in one of my blog postings….) And I do have a technical writing background so if I have to write a blog post that includes step-by-step procedures, I’m golden. My plan is to write about various topics...
