I friggin' did it!

midlife motivation Oct 28, 2019

I friggin' just took action on the 2nd scariest thing I've ever done in my entire 60 years on Earth!!!

I had SO.MUCH.FEAR about this but I did it anyway!

You want to know why?

Because on the other side of fear is growth, adventure and magic! ALWAYS!!!

I took this scary action because the desire to do it was coming from my heart.... It was an inner voice thing, from deep inside of me. It's hard to explain but it just felt good - even though it scared the s*** out of me!

Being scared doesn't mean it's not right. Fear comes from doing something that you've never done before and usually what your conscious brain (ego) is trying to convince you not to do because it feels unsafe.

You see, your brain tries to keep you in your comfort zone because doing something that you've not done before, and which has a lot of fuzziness around it, does not fall into the safe category according to your logical brain.

I KNOW THIS because I teach it; however, that doesn't mean it comes any easier to...

Change IS scary but it can set your soul on fire, regardless of age

midlife motivation Sep 23, 2019

Most people believe that when you reach a certain age, it’s too late to find the purpose for why you are here… and that, by midlife, you certainly can’t start from scratch and earn a living fulfilling that purpose.

Unfortunately most people spend their whole lives doing the only job they think they can do, whether it’s what their parents told them to do, what their parents did, or what they are good at, but it’s not what they love. It’s not what fills them with passion. Then they get to midlife and are unfulfilled, but they feel it’s too late to make any changes for reasons like: “I'm too old!” “I’m too busy!” or “It will take too much money!”

I totally get it! It’s so easy to sit inside our little comfort zones and keep doing what we’ve always done! I did that myself, until, at age 55, I stumbled upon something else that lit me up inside!

My 5 Tips to Get Into a Positive Headspace?

I had a less than positive experience flying to Los Angeles this past week, but I never got mad or let it effect me in a negative way. I remained positive and rolled with the punches the airline kept throwing my way.

As I was thinking about what topic to write about this week, this experience popped into my head as a good example of how I keep a positive mindset. And since I'm always asked how I stay so positive, I thought this would be a great time to share my best tips...

Just to give you a sense of what happened with my flights, I'll go in chronological order.

Last Monday I was supposed to fly from Charlottesville to LA, with a connection through Chicago. About 24 hours before my flight, I got a text from the airline that my Chicago to LA flight was cancelled.

I immediately jumped on the phone with the airline and was able to secure the ONLY option, according to the flight attendant after about 30 minutes of searching. It wasn't an...

There are no accidents in life

I remember it clearly… The day I found out I was an “accident.”

Days like that, the ones where the world as we knew it changes, tend to stand out in our memory. For me, it was because what I always thought to be true - that I was intentionally conceived & part of a plan - was no longer my reality.

And the funny thing is… the truth came out because of MY ACTIONS. We were sitting at the table, right after Thanksgiving dinner. I don’t remember the specific year, but I know it was at my sister’s house and I was a young married woman who was trying to get my parents to admit my sister was an accident.

Uh... That kind of back-fired. LOL!

In fact, I was 99% certain my sister was the accident of the family so I was simply pressing for confirmation of what I already knew... because who gets married after only dating 5 months and then gets immediately pregnant?

Well, I guess my parents do!

So here we were, at the dinner table, full...

Do You Follow Your Head or Your Heart?

motivation Dec 13, 2018

What your typical reaction is to making a decision? Do you follow your head or do you follow your heart?

The reason I ask is because I am in the process of trying to make a big decision. And my typical response went to my head because I've been more of a head person most of my life. But I need to follow my heart and that's what you should do. I've learned that the hard way.

I want to share a couple of reasons about why it’s so important to follow your heart.

I’ve always been attracted to the Law of Attraction ever since I first heard about it on the Oprah show about 15 years ago. But I really started understanding what it meant and applying it to my own life within the last, five years.

I used to pride myself on the fact that I followed my head and not my heart because I thought that was what really makes you the most happy - you gotta do what makes the most sense right? You gotta do what the brain says to do!

I remember walking down the aisle when I married my first...

Being Better All Begins with Awareness

"Judgment comes from a place of fear, disdain, or even hate." by Rachel Hollis from "Girl Wash Your Face"

No judgement here if you are "judgy." This comes from my  and a place of love because I want to be a force that makes a difference. I want to inspire positive change.

Part of the reason is because I used to be the most judgmental person so I understand. And I know change is possible no matter who you are or how old you are.

I'm a work in progress trying to get better every day. If you ever see my judgy side come out, call me on it please!!!

Here are a few tips from Rachel:

1. "Find nonjudgmental friends. We tend to become whoever we surround ourselves with. If your friends are full of gossip & vitriol, I promise you'll start to develop the habit. When you are looking for a community of women, look for ones who want to build each other up instead of year each other down." (or talk shit about others - those are my words! Rachel didn't cuss. )

2. Police yourself. "If...

My commitment to my new grandson!

When I look at this little guy, I think about how much I want to be a part of his life. Being a grandma is different than being a mom because you know how precious time is and how fast it can fly by...

I want him to know me - the VIBRANT and FUN-FILLED me! I don't want him to ever see me as the old fuddy duddy who can't do things.

That thought motivates me like no other. It makes me WANT to stay focused on my health. It pushes me to press play & do my workout every day.

I'll be 77 when I go to his high school graduation. I'll be 81 when I go to his college graduation. And chances are I'll be close to 90 when I go to his wedding.

The images of those events in my head drives a deeper level of commitment to the habits I've developed of eating healthy and exercising

How big is your commitment to your own personal health and to being there for special events 30 years from now?

If it's not big, I urge you to change that TODAY! And COMMIT!!!!

If you need a support system, I'm still...

This is the First Official Professional Interview I've ever done!

educational motivation Feb 20, 2018

This is the first official, professional interview I've ever done, and man, was it fun!!!!

I even stopped to smell the roses!

I got to share what Marketing Impact Academy has done for me as an online entrepreneur over the past 12 months.

The last 3 days have been nothing short of incredible. Most of us were in tears as the conference closed because of the power of the message that Chalene Johnson shared with us...

"Things happen FOR us, not TO us."

And it is our responsibility - each of our's purpose - to help others figure out what we already have, through our experiences. That is how we can best serve.

And THAT is what I intend to devote myself to doing!!!
