Lacking Linda

On a scale of 0 to 5, with 0 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, your abundance level is at 0, and you are what I refer to as a Lacking Linda.

But don’t fret! Awareness is the first step towards a more abundant mindset. The fact that you are here and you took this test means you desire more abundance in your life, and it’s very easy to increase with the right actions.

Before I give you tips on how to increase your abundance level, let’s talk about where you are and why you are at such a low level…

Unfortunately your focus is more on what you don’t have instead of what you do have. And that’s what many of us do when our natural tendency is to look at what we have as possibly a lesser quality or quantity of something we want, or we look at what we want but we don’t have.

We are preoccupied with what we lack in our life instead of thinking about and appreciating what we do have.

This could be something that you learned as a child. Perhaps you had a parent that complained about lack of money or a desire for a better car or house or neighborhood. This could have been a frequent subject of discussion in your home or maybe it was just one conversation you overheard but it stuck with you, and it cultivated a sense of never having enough or always feeling as if you were lacking something in some way.

One thing to be aware of, now that you know your mindset needs shifting, is how often you use the word “need” when you are speaking. The definition of “need” is: a thing that is wanted or required because it is essential or very important.

If you are using this word a lot, know that it is continually reinforcing a sense of lack because quite honestly, if you were to check in with yourself and ask if that thing you just said you needed is really essential, the answer would likely be no - because there is very little most of us who live in developed countries truly need.

So try this simple word hack… Replace the word “need” with the word “desire.” The definition of desire is: “a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.” It’s a wish vs. a requirement. The focus turns to dreaming instead of not having or lacking something.
