Episode 158: [Activating Abundance #28] By De-stressing

Today's episode was inspired by the October 9th excerpt from the "Simple Abundance" book called "Coping with Stress" because it caused me to be aware that I've been feeling a bit stressed lately. And going back through the list today really helped me.

The 47 de-stressing suggestions I share are listed below, with the ones that personally resonated to me marked with an asterisk. I suggest you pull out the ones that resonate with you to help you de-stress in times of need.

  1. Cultivate gratitude.
  2. Turn your phone off.
  3. Carve out an hour a day for solitude.*
  4. Begin and end the day with prayer, reflection, or silence.
  5. Keep it simple.
  6. Keep your house picked up.
  7. Don't over schedule.*
  8. Strive for realistic deadlines.
  9. Never make a promise you can't keep.
  10. Allow an extra half-hour for everything you do.*
  11. Create quiet surroundings at home and at work.
  12. Go to bed at nine o’clock twice a week.*
  13. Always carry something interesting to read.
  14. Breathe - deeply and often.
  15. Move - walk, dance, run, find a sport you enjoy.
  16. Drink pure spring water. Lots of It.
  17. Eat only when hungry.
  18. If it’s not delicious, don’t eat it.
  19. Be instead of do.*
  20. Set aside one day a week for rest and renewal.*
  21. Laugh more often.
  22. Luxuriate in your senses.
  23. Always opt for comfort.
  24. If you don’t love it, live without it.
  25. Let Mother Nature nurture.*
  26. No phones allowed at the dinner table.
  27. Stop trying to please everybody.
  28. Start pleasing yourself.
  29. Stay away from negative people.
  30. Don’t squander precious resources: time, creative energy.
  31. Nurture friendships.*
  32. Don’t be afraid of your passion.
  33. Approach problems as challenges.
  34. Honor your aspirations.
  35. Set achievable goals.
  36. Surrender expectations.
  37. Savor beauty.*
  38. Create boundaries.
  39. For every yes, let there be a no.
  40. Don’t worry; be happy.
  41. Remember, happiness is a living emotion.
  42. Exchange security for serenity.*
  43. Care for your soul.*
  44. Cherish your dreams.
  45. Express love every day.
  46. Search for your Authentic Self until you find her.* (And Laurie's addition: And never let her go!)
  47. Don’t tweet in bed.

Copy the list and pull out the ones that really resonate for you, then print your list out and post it somewhere you will see it every day as a reminder to be aware and listen to your body and apply your favorite de-stressing suggestions as needed.
