Sharing One Of My Favorite Activities During My Spare Time..

Today I'm sharing a secret!!!

Want to know what I love to do in my spare time, that I’m kinda embarrassed to admit… I watch REALITY SHOWS!!!!

For me, it’s more like a psychology project. I LOVE watching people… for 2 main reasons: 1) to watch what lights them up & 2) to watch them interact with others.

I’m REALLY INTO the competition reality show like The Voice, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Survivor, The Amazing Race & Big Brother!!!

I don't watch the Housewives series... Nah! I think that's all fake. They just get drunk & mean and that's not interesting to me.

I love it most, when they get lost in a performance. You feel something inside, like they reached down into your heart & tugged at it. (My husband doesn't get this, but if you're like me, you KNOW what I mean!)

I believe every single person has a passion - even if they don't know what it is, it's inside of them waiting to be tapped. And that passion connects at...

You Are Never Too Old For A New Puppy!

I want to share WHY I decided to get a puppy at 61 years of age...

Some may think that is too old to take on a puppy. Some may have thoughts that a new puppy could outlive them. Some may think that having a puppy is hard work. Some may think having a puppy is too restrictive.

Well, I tend to look for the pros and not the cons in every situation. Maybe It's the optimist in me... Or maybe it's my ability to always believe in the positive potential in my choices.

You've probably heard that what you focus on expands... Well, that mindset has served me very well in life!

After my 15 1/2 year old Chihuahua passed in January, I began thinking about getting another dog. And to be honest, I had to talk my husband into it. He was not ready to jump right back into parenthood.

But I KNEW a puppy would bring lots of extra love and laughter to our home. And who doesn't want more of THAT?

Of course work comes along with it, but the amount of laughter my husband and I have shared in this very difficult...

AHA Moments to Inspire You!

I've found my 2nd half, the backside of life as they say, to be the upside, not the downslide we tend to dread when we are younger.

And for that reason, it's my passion to help others get excited about this phase... to have hope and excitement for the adventures to come, whatever they may be!

So I put together a free workshop called Midlife MOJOO Mastery to teach women how to uplevel their 2nd half and I love seeing all of the AHA moments from the women who are participating...

Here are a few from the 1st of 3 trainings:

"Eureka - Never underestimate someone's capacity for growth - The 2nd half is the best part of life. Thanks Laurie!"

"I don’t know how I ran across you.... but I feel The universe had a hand in it. I just made a post the other day how I have devoted the last 29 years (well still am) to being a mom. That my twins graduated and I’m a somewhat empty nester. I have a daughter with special needs who is at home for now till she goes back to college. But...

Change IS scary but it can set your soul on fire, regardless of age

Most people believe that when you reach a certain age, it’s too late to find the purpose for why you are here… and that, by midlife, you certainly can’t start from scratch and earn a living fulfilling that purpose.

Unfortunately most people spend their whole lives doing the only job they think they can do, whether it’s what their parents told them to do, what their parents did, or what they are good at, but it’s not what they love. It’s not what fills them with passion. Then they get to midlife and are unfulfilled, but they feel it’s too late to make any changes for reasons like: “I'm too old!” “I’m too busy!” or “It will take too much money!”

I totally get it! It’s so easy to sit inside our little comfort zones and keep doing what we’ve always done! I did that myself, until, at age 55, I stumbled upon something else that lit me up inside!

The Menopause Myth

Thinking menopause is the main reason for the sad shape you are in is one of the worst midlife mindsets you can have. I know this because I used to have that mindset!

So many women think that way because when we are struggling with weight gain or lack of energy, we need an excuse. And that mindset is compounded when we get around like-minded peers who buy into this belief, which further validates to us that menopause is the culprit!!!

But will an excuse get you to a better mindset and ultimately the solution you need? Not at all!

Whether your excuse is time, money, OR menopause, none of them will help you get into those old size 8 jeans folded at the bottom of your drawer or give you the energy you need to go on all of the fun rides with your grandchildren at Disney World.

Is every menopausal woman out of shape and overweight? Heck no!!! I can name several who look amazing: Jane Fonda at 80, Sandra Bullock at 54, Christie Brinkley at 64, Diane Keaton at 72, and Kim...

BIG NEWS!

And this grandma couldn’t be more excited about it!

I've had to keep this quiet but now the pumpkin is out of the patch!  #thoughttheyweredone

Grandchild #5 is on its way!!! And since she's older now, we'll get to find out the sex in just 3 weeks!

I have a feeling it's a girl this go round. Mollybean wanted a girl with the last one. I was with her the day we found out her mommy was having a boy and she shed a few tears. But fortunately, the universe was on her side because she lost her first tooth that night and the Tooth Fairy paid her a visit, distracting her from the news of her new baby brother! LOL!

So I think the universe is gonna make her wish come true and give her the baby sister she’s been wishing for! Lord knows we need some more girls in this family!!! The boys are outnumbering us!

Friends for Over 40 Years

It's not often that I get to spend time with these amazing women but every time we gather it is a treasure to me.

I met 2 of them when I was 17, a college freshman, and they were randomly assigned as my roommate and suitemate. How likely is it that we'd end up being as close as sisters still 42 years later?

And the other entered our lives 2 years later when she came to our school as a freshman. We all just clicked. ‍‍ We asked her to move into our apartment, that had no room, so we converted our dining room into a bedroom & made it work!!!

When you find "your people" you just know, and you hang onto them and value that bond.

We've experienced quite a bit through the years... boyfriends, weddings, children, divorces, serious illnesses, loss of parents, heartache, many hairstyles, and lots & lots of shopping!!!

We like to focus on the fun, the positive, the future, and the adventures to come. These girls are always with me. Even when they're not.

They...

My commitment to my new grandson!

When I look at this little guy, I think about how much I want to be a part of his life. Being a grandma is different than being a mom because you know how precious time is and how fast it can fly by...

I want him to know me - the VIBRANT and FUN-FILLED me! I don't want him to ever see me as the old fuddy duddy who can't do things.

That thought motivates me like no other. It makes me WANT to stay focused on my health. It pushes me to press play & do my workout every day.

I'll be 77 when I go to his high school graduation. I'll be 81 when I go to his college graduation. And chances are I'll be close to 90 when I go to his wedding.

The images of those events in my head drives a deeper level of commitment to the habits I've developed of eating healthy and exercising

How big is your commitment to your own personal health and to being there for special events 30 years from now?

If it's not big, I urge you to change that TODAY! And COMMIT!!!!

If you need a support system, I'm still...

Announcing My Fourth Grandchild Matthew Harrison Wallace!

I can’t believe it’s the first day of August!!! July was a very BIG MONTH for me... but perhaps an even bigger month for my youngest daughter as she & her husband welcomed their firstborn!

I became a grandmother for the 4th time on July 12th which means I now have 3 grandsons and one granddaughter - and yet another birthday to remember!!! LOL!

In case you missed him on my social media, here is the handsome Mathew Harrison Wallace, Jr. He is destined for dimples because both of his parents have them!

I feel so blessed that my children have had easy births and healthy children. #knockonwood

Not only did I welcome a new grandchild but I also had my 3 older grandchildren come for a visit this month. In fact, they just left last Saturday! I was responsible for the 19 month old for just a couple of nights so I wasn’t on "watch-him-like-a-hawk" duty for too long. He is into everything and moves quite fast so it was exhausting....

Why Justify Made Me Cry

I know some people may not understand why I am in tears seeing Justify win the Triple Crown....

Do you have any idea how AMAZING that is?!?! TWICE IN 40 years!

I am an animal lover. I am especially a horse lover. I used to own one. I used to ride every day. I loved riding. It was such a passion of mine.

I've been thinking about starting again. It's been in my mind since last summer when I took my granddaughter to her first riding lesson.

I think it's time. No more just thinking! I'm going to call tomorrow and get started.

If it makes you cry, DO IT, right?
Thank you Justify, for reigniting a long idle passion.
